On 13 April 2006, ORNISS hosted the signing ceremony of the Agreement between the Government of Romania and the Government of the Republic of Bulgaria on the Mutual Protection of Classified Information.
The signatory parties of the document were: on behalf of the Government of Romania, Secretary of State Prof. dr. MARIUS PETRESCU, Director General of ORNISS, and on behalf of the Government of Bulgaria, Mrs. TSVETA MARKOVA, Chairperson of the State Commission on Information Security.
The signing ceremony was attended by experts of ORNISS, of Romanian Designated Security Authorities and of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as well as by representatives of the National Security Authority of the Republic of Bulgaria.
The Agreement with the Republic of Bulgaria is the second security agreement signed by Romania with a member state of the North-Atlantic Alliance, after its accession to NATO.
In their speeches on this occasion, the heads of the National Security Authorities of the two states expressed their confidence that this Agreement would strengthen the fruitful and direct cooperation between the Romanian and the Bulgarian National Security Authorities and would set up a milestone for the future cooperation between the two countries, both as NATO member states with similar responsibilities in the field of global and regional security and as future EU member states with similar development and progress prospects.
